OUR STORY

In 2009, Burston was the first to identify the potential of ultrasonic measurement for the application of real-time fuel flow measurement in motorsport and was closely involved in developing the technology before founding Calibra in 2013 with backing from pioneering racing entrepreneur Daniel Partel and motorsport marketing veteran David Aronson.


Burston received his BEng in Automotive Engineering from the University of Hertfordshire in 1998 and an MPhil in Engineering for Sustainable Development from Cambridge University in 2005. In his decade working for race car manufacturer Lola Cars, Burston-penned chassis achieved success in Europe, Japan, and North America.

He participated in the first FIA™ sustainable motorsport commission and has served as a design judge at the Formula Student and Formula Hybrid competitions for young engineers.

 

Over the last decade, Burston has built up the company with a team composed of operations manager Darren Porter, mechanical and control systems engineer Jeremy Thorneycroft, and lab technician Kevin Flack, supported by administrator Katy Jackson.
